Are you looking for someone to translate German into accurate, idiomatic, American English? If so, you've come to the right place. Thanks for visiting my website.

My name is Lee Hassig.

With a degree from Yale University in German language and literatureplus nearly 30 years' experience as a writer and editor with world-renowned publisher TIME-LIFE BOOKS–I offer about the best there is at a reasonable price.

Judge for yourself. Here are links to some recent translations, showing the English alongside the German source (use your browser's back button to return to this page):

(the web site of an interior-design company in Berlin).
Der Akazienbaum.
Bohnen des Bösen.
Wer hat Angst vor Kurdistan.
Der Heizer, from Kafka's Amerika.
Mordprozess Morsal Obeidi.
Israel und Iran steuern auf gewaltsamen Konflikt zu.

My specialties are history, the social sciences and current events. However, I also translate the hard sciences, technology, as well as instructions, equipment manuals, web sites, and advertising copy.

I price translation at $0.13 per word, as counted by Microsoft Word, with a minimum charge of $50.00. This rate applies to documents that come to me as Word or Adobe Acrobat (PDF) files, as long as the PDF contains searchable text and carriage-returns only at the ends of paragraphs. Other formats or printed documents incur a re-formatting charge of $25.00 per hour.

If you think that I might be of service to you, give me a ring at 703.864.1503.

Or better yet, click here to send me an email. Describe the source text and, if possible, include a short sample
and your deadline so I can better understand what I will be working on. I'll get back to you right away with a quote.

Thanks for your interest, and let me hear from you.
